Infertile Women Lighting the World?

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.”

– Marianne Williamson

Today I was reminded of Marianne Williamson’s beautiful words “it is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.”

Have those of us facing fertility woes been given the great privilege, and responsibility, of shining our light out through the darkness?

What will happen when we liberate ourselves from our fears? Our fears of not being good enough, not being woman enough, not being complete enough.

What will happen when we step through those fears to claim our brilliance, our gorgeousness, our amazing talents, and our utter fabulousness?

Will we give others, faced with challenges of their own, the light they need to see through their darkness?

Sometimes when lost in the sea of infertility, afloat on a life raft big enough only for one, it’s easy to lose sight of the shore. Today I am wondering what would happen if we stopped clinging to the false sense of safety the hard plastic beneath us provides, and dove straight into the water.

What if we are powerful beyond measure? And what if in jumping into the sea of our magnificence we set free the luminescent microbes that light the world?

Our Greatest Fear —Marianne Williamson

it is our light not our darkness that most frightens us

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
