Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting.
Today I read a post on a support site about all of the things women have given up, missed out on, and sacrificed on the road to motherhood. I literally had to stop reading it.
Please, please, please you beautiful, alive, incredible, potential-filled women, LIVE! That is what I wanted to scream through my computer screen.
We must stop letting our precious days pass as if our lives are on hold. Stop cancelling a romantic vacation because of a doctor’s appointment. Stop sitting on the couch rather than going to the beach because the hormonal fluctuations have expanded our swimming suit size. Stop putting off until after we get pregnant, what we can do today! We have to start prioritizing our joy, our health, our happiness, and our abundance first and foremost.
We simply must live out loud in a bodacious and regret-free way, TODAY!
The days are passing us by; they are flying as though on a kite that has slipped out of our hands. Up into the atmosphere they soar, never to return.
So maybe we need to go back to the simple and straightforward brilliance of Dr. Seuss. There is only ONE you; you only have this ONE day, and only ONE time around. Perhaps it is time to stop being the “everyone” who is waiting, and start being the singular one who is living through the waiting.
Carpe Diem! You only get this one solitary chance to do so, and then it is gone along with the kite into the sky forever.
