Today while driving in the mountains I looked over to the side of the road and there sat a porcupine–the first I have ever seen in “real life.” He/she was just hanging out there minding their own business.
What in the world a porcupine was doing right on the side of the road mystifies me. My husband did not see it, just me and Mr. Porcupine.
I have written before <CLICK HERE TO READ> about the concept of animals carrying medicine, and that they come to you / make themselves visible to you, when you need to learn from that medicine.
So today the porcupine came to whisper to me what I needed to remember–to have faith and trust, and to believe in a “master plan.”
Sometimes we all need to be reminded that we must have faith and trust, we must remember that there is a master plan. Today I needed that reminder.
With adversity recently smacking me upside the head like a baseball bat connecting with the ball, I must remember that I have a purpose and I am here to fulfill that purpose.
What has Mama Nature been whispering to you on your fertility journey?
Medicine, from a Native American perspective, is anything that deepens our connection with Great Spirit and All Of Our Relations. Each animal has been gifted with a specific “medicine”. Animals “live” their medicine in the manner in which they live their lives. This knowledge may be shared by taking the time to observe each animal as he goes about his daily routine.
The keywords for Porcupine are faith and trust.
We need to hold the belief that there is a “master plan”, and that as reflections of Great Spirit, we are here to find our paths in this lifetime. We are here to discover and develop our abilities … to use our personal resources for the benefit of mankind.
The message of Porcupine is that of humbleness – of respecting and honoring life by having the willingness to greet each new day with awe and reverance, and being willing to reach out and accept the opportunities given us to become part of the wonderful adventures around us. The quills of Porcupine come out only when faith and trust have been set aside.
